An implant (titanium screw) is placed into the jaw during a surgical procedure and thus replaces the natural tooth root. After successful osseointegration (healing and the integration of bone and implant) prosthethic restorations are placed on the implant.
Implant rehabilitation replaces one or more missing teeth or even completely edentulous jaws. An advantage of implant rehabilitation is that adjacent healthy and intact teeth do not need to be ground down as is necessary when making a classic bridge.
