It spoils all the beauty. And there are few people who have not had at least mild inflammation of the gums (gingiva), which is not surprising because the oral cavity is the most exposed to various external influences. Periodontal diseases include all pathological events in the set of tissues that make up the attachment apparatus of the teeth (periodontals). According to the World Health Organization, as many as 95 percent of the adult population suffers from some form of periodontal disease. The most important cause of periodontal disease is undoubtedly dental plaque.

Eighty percent of children suffer from gingivitis. If detected in time, the prognosis of the disease is good. It is important to establish the cause and establish cooperation with a dentist.

A disease that penetrates deeper into the gums, then destroys the supporting apparatus of the teeth, which then become unstable and eventually fall out, is called progressive periodontitis. The prognosis of the disease depends on the time of detection, but today the progressive process of periodontal destruction can be stopped.

Accumulation of microorganisms and nutrient substrate (plaque) on the tooth surface results in the creation of bacterial toxins, enzymes and antigens from the plaque, which cause initial inflammation in the gums. This build-up can later calcify in the form of tartar. It accumulates in the space between the gingiva and the tooth, where food remains and this leads to deeper inflammation, thus creating a pocket between the tooth and the gum. If it is not detected in time, the inflammation deepens, secretion from the pocket begins, bleeding and the appearance of pus. If the pus is not stopped in time, a swelling with a periodontal abscess is formed. Accompanying symptoms range from discomfort, redness, swelling, bad breath, temperature changes in the color and shape of the gums, to uncomfortable nodding and finally falling out of the teeth.

Therapy

Preventing the deposition of dental plaque

Removal of tartar

Local application of medication

Use of antibiotics and metronidazole in some types of diseases

Establishing harmonious occlusion (bite)

Prosthetic replacement of lost teeth

Control

Every 4-6 months

Checking dental plaque

Checking the condition of the gums, the edges of the pockets and the mobility of the teeth

Removing tartar

Prevention

Maintaining impeccable hygiene

Mastering the brushing technique and using dental floss

Checking dental plaque because plaque causes gingivitis, and then in various ways can cause the development of periodontitis

Bad habits

USING A TOOTHPICK is a bad habit for removing food debris between the teeth because it damages the gums and causes the formation of pockets

SMOKING

CLEANING THE TEETH “emptily”

GRINDING THE TEETH AT NIGHT

POOR TOOTHBRUSHING

MOUTH BREATHING causes dryness of the mucous membranes and mouth

SUGAR CONSUMPTION OUTSIDE MEALS

["post-729","iz-tiska","type-iz-tiska","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
